2025: Same Work, Different Rhythm (And Maybe Hotter Tea)

2025: Same Work, Different Rhythm (And Maybe Hotter Tea)

Happy New Year!

It’s 2025, and I must confess that I’m having a bit of trouble getting my head around it. It feels as though the start of 2024 was only a month or two ago. They say time speeds up as we get older, but even so 2024 went by far, far too quickly.

And it bothers me. I don’t like the feeling that life is zooming past while I’m stuck on rinse and repeat. They say when your brain is busy taking in new things, time slows down. But when every day looks the same—make tea, forget tea, reheat tea—it’s like the days blur together, and suddenly another year’s gone by.

So, this year, I’ve decided to shake things up. I’m going to take time out, visit new places, meet new people, learn new things, and maybe even try to drink my tea while it’s still hot. The goal? To disrupt the cycle, make a few memories, and remind myself what it’s like to savour the moment—even if it’s just one sip at a time.

At the studio I’ve made a few changes to support this change of pace by downsizing and cutting back to just 3 or 4 studio days a week (instead of last year's 6). This change will give me the chance to take a breath, work at a steadier pace, and ultimately grow in a way that feels more sustainable. Don’t worry, my current services will continue as usual, just with a bit more time to focus on the details and bring even more creativity and focus to my work.

It’s a big year ahead, and it will be interesting to see where it takes me.
