About Donna (a.k.a. The Jewellery Lady, The Tea Lady, Probably the One Who Fixed That Clasp)
Hi, I’m Donna—maker, magpie, and the hands behind Somervail Silver (and yes, Not Just Red Ones, if that’s how you found me).
I’ve been crafting jewellery for well over a decade, quietly building beauty in a corner of Kaiapoi, New Zealand. What started with colour and play has sharpened into something cleaner, stronger, and more intentional. Somervail Silver is the evolution of that work—a home for simplicity, strength, and stories told in silver.
Most of what I make now is sterling silver and cultured pearls—soft curves, raw textures, and a kind of quiet that wears well.
You’ll still find echoes of earlier collections too: Swarovski crystals and the mischief of Not Just Red Ones.
If it’s here, it’s handmade. If it’s handmade, it’s me.
These days, I’ve also let the studio expand a little. You’ll find soy wax melts with opinions, scent cards that bite back, and tools to help care for the pieces you love. Everything here was made with intention—even the nonsense.
Why Somervail Silver?
Because it’s real.
Because it holds.
Because when the world feels like too much, making something solid and beautiful feels like resistance.
When you wear something I’ve made, you’re carrying more than just a piece of jewellery. You’re carrying proof that slow still matters. That care still counts. That hand-crafted things still hold magic.
Thanks for being here.
